Grand Union Canal The route follows the Grand Union Canal towpaths, the terrain is good over most of the course. However, with poor weather conditions some sections become very muddy and uneven. Temperatures in the region in February are generally low, ranging between -5°C and 6°. Rain and even snow is also common in this area at this time of the year. The course does not involve any difficult navigation, and competitors will be provided with a text 'Road book' which can be used without the need of a map.
